Common Name The Twisted Dendrobium – In Thailand – Khao kiu

Found in Assam India, Bangladesh, Andaman Islands, Malaysia, Myanamar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam at elevations around 1220 meters as a small to medium sized, hot to cool, ascending to pendant growing epiphyte, terrestrial or lithophyte with club to spindle shaped, grooved and medially flattened stems with tubular leaf sheaths carrying 3 to 4, thin, deciduous, curved, leathery, sharply pointed leaves that blooms on an axillary, 14 to 8 cm long, few [2 to 3] flowered inflorescence arising from the upper leaf axils of leafless canes with longlasting, fragrant flowers occuring in the late winter and early summer. Water and fertilizer should be drastcally reduced in the winter months and resumed with the onset of new growth in the spring.

A nice miniature plant that likes to be wood mounted and needs warm conditions through the summer growth season but cool to warm and drier in the winter and spring and has clustered, small stems carrying 2 to 3, apical, narrow, persistent leaves and blooms on axillary, short [1 to 2"], raceme that arises from near and at the apex of leafed and leafless canes with up to 4 fragrant flowers. It is found in Vietnam, Laos, Burma and Thailand in evergreen, in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands at elevations of 800 to 1550 meters and is found on rocks and small bushes.

This species is similar to D dickasonii and D lamyaiae but this one differs in the smaller flowers with a wider cupped lip and three central keels

A lessening of water and fertilizer is beneficial through the onset of winter but in the last 2 months water should be reduced even more and fertilizer eliminated until new growths arise in the spring.

Found in Laos and Thailand as a miniature sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with very short stems carry to 6 deciduous leaves that blooms in the summer after leaf-fall on short, single flowered inflorescence carrying long lasting flowers.

Very similar to D unicum and D dickasonii but this one differs in having much larger flowers and a narrow lip with a tall central keel

Often spelled D lanyaiae, the correct spelling is D lamyaiae which refers to the tree that it is often associated with the Lamyai fruit tree which is also called longans.

Found as a mini-miniature, warm to hot growing epiphyte that occurs on moss covered trees in the South West Pacific at elevations of 650 to 2400 meters with club-shaped stems or tapering at both ends carrying 2, deciduous, linear leaves that blooms on a very short, axillary, 1 to few flowered inflorescence that arise from the nodes at the apex of the leafless stems and occuring in the summer. Slightly reduce water and withhold fertilizer until new growth is initiated in the spring.

Szóval: Dendrobium harveyanum

hát nem lenyűgöző? Olyan bájos ez az aranysárga virág a mókás kis nyúlványaival! Mint valami kócos kisangyal! lol

Tehát: orsó alakú felálló szára kettő-kilenc levéllel borított, melyek átellenben állnak. A lazán függő virágszár kb 15 cm hosszú, többnyire az idősebb, gyakran levéltelen szár tetejéről ered, akár kilenc kb. 5 cm-es virággal. Az egyes virágok nem túl tartósak, 10-14 napig nyílnak, de egymás után, így maga a virágzás elhúzódhat akár hat hétig is.

Den. harveyanum

Természetes élőhelye Myanmar (Burma), Thaiföld, Vietnam és Yunnan provincia dél Kínában. Yunnanban április-május környékén nyílik, 1100-1700 méteren, epifitaként, fák törzsén vagy vastagabb ágak kérgén. Eredetileg Myanmarban fedezték fel és első alkalommal a Liverpool Horti-cultural Company volt szerencsés termeszteni. Az aigburth-i (Liverpool melletti település) Enoch Harvey tiszteletére keresztelték el harveyanumnak, akinek elsőként sikerült virágzásra bírnia Európában 1883-ban.

Tehát klasszikus monszun éghajlatról származik a kicsike, hosszú tavaszi-nyári esőzésekkel és páradús, meleg levegővel, majd ősszel és télen száraz, napfényes meleg nappalok és hűvösebb éjszakák követik egymást. Ekkor kevés nedvességhez jut szegényke, jóformán csak a reggeli harmaton tengődik. Fontos tehát, biztosítani számára a szárazabb téli pihenőidőszakot, (pl. hagyd abba az öntözését Mindenszentek és Valentin nap között) és akkor sikerül évről évre gyönyörködni a kellemesen citromos-mézillatú virágzatában. Elvileg.
